For episode 4.01, the character Pastor Young is being cast. His daughter April Young is also being cast in a recurring role beginning in episode 4.02. Pastor Young hates vampires, and he threatens Meredith that he will expose her use of vampire blood on her patients and he captures Damon and wants to use him as bait in order to try to capture Stefan, too.

April Young returns to town after her father dies, to attend his funeral.

Connor Owens is also being cast for episode 4.02. He shows Damon a folder of notes hes been keeping and threatens Damon. Connor and Tyler argue over each of them having something that the other wants (knowledge of how a curse is triggered and the location of a particular stone).

The Vampire Diaries is looking to cast another edgy beauty for season 4. With filming already underway in Atlanta, the roles just keep piling up for the highly anticipated October return of the CW hit. The new character, Hayley, is described as ‘wildly sexy, but tough as nails’. Hayley is slated to appear in episode 3 of season 4.

Hayley is a friend of Tylers and helped him break his sire bond. She didnt know he was still alive or wealthy, though, and only found out recently that Klaus hadnt killed Tyler (one of Klaus hybrids told Hayley he was going to meet up with someone named Tyler) so she shows up at the Lockwood mansion.

She has a confrontation with Damon at the Mystic Grill (she tells Damon shes in town looking for Mason Lockwood because hes missing, and Damon tells her to leave town – which she refuses to do). [Casting Read from previous episode]

Now that Elena will transition, how soon before memories she was compelled to forget come back on The Vampire Diaries? NATALIE: We all love a good flashback and fortunately for Delena fans, in the premiere episode Elena will remember a very important moment from Season 2: when Damon told her he loved her. But unlike past flashbacks weve seen, Elena doesnt realize right away that shes watching a memory from the past rather than experiencing a moment in the present.

We know that a couple of new characters are joining „The Vampire Diaries“ early this season, but one person we wont be seeing in the first few episodes is Bonnies love interest, Jamie. „Jamie hasnt shown up yet and were four scripts in,“ executive producer Julie Plec tells us. „Hes still a factor in our minds in that he still exists and they have a connection and a bond. We just havent decided how much more to explore that. Were keeping it on the back burner for now.“

Episode 4.04 will feature a vampire hunter called Alexander in a flashback to the 1100s

Episode 4 will flash back to the 1100s, where well meet Alexander – a vampire hunter with a very, very mean streak. Unfortunately, when he meets Rebekah, hes unaware that she is one of the very creatures hes hunting… and, naturally, hes quite taken with her.

„Theres going to be a profound sense of guilt, but shadowing that is going be this overwhelming feeling of being loved. Matt hasnt felt that kind of love since season one or if ever in his life,“ Zach Roerig says of Mystic Falls resident human/busboy in the beginning of season four after he learns what happened to Elena (you know, the fangs and bloodlust). „Matts going to be guilty, but also because hes been loved so much, earn his life everyday.“ Roerig adds that Matt and Caroline share a scene in the premiere that is „not too emotionally charged“ and was the actually the first scene shot of season four. „I was honored to start the year off.“

Is there really a chance that The Vampire Diaries Esther might not be the Original witch? NATALIE: The mythology of the witches hasnt been told completely. Executive producer Julie Plec explains whats left to uncover. „To clarify what I said [at Comic-Con] … when Esther used that spell to make her children immortal, which created the Original vampires, that spell existed already. So who wrote it? Thats the question that will remain a question in this season and possibly in the series. We dabbled with the Original vampires, but who were truly the Original witches?“

Vampire Diaries scoop. Hit me. Ausiello: Julie Plec is resurrecting original flavor Damon this season. “This year, Damon is the Damon of Season 1, minus the posturing and posing,” she promises. “He just is. He is who he is. He’s got attitude. He’s always right. He’s rarely wrong. He might do the wrong thing, but he’s always the one who’s like, “I told you guys. You should have listened to me.” So this year is going to be very much about, ‘You don’t like me. You want to judge me. You don’t like who I am, how I do things? Well, screw you.’ It’s going to be a great shift for him… He’s still going to be the Damon we know and love — he’s still going to be kicking ass and taking names. But he just has this devil may care attitude about it. He’s just not going to change for anybody anymore. He did that. That’s over. That’s so last year.”

Will Bonnie be at odds with group after what she did in the Vampire Diaries finale? Ausiello: According to showrunner Julie Plec, she won’t suffer “friendship consequences,” but she will suffer “witch consequences.” Elaborates the EP: “She tapped into something pretty dark to do it, and she’s going to have to tap into that again in the first episode. It’s not going to be a walk in the park for her. She’s going to be struggling with her own darkness inside of her as Elena is starting to adapt to hers.”

What will Meredith’s role on Vampire Diaries be now that Alaric is gone? Ausiello: In a word, complicated. “Meredith in the beginning is just trying to keep her head above water, realizing that she’s found herself dropped into this supernatural world she never really meant to get involved with,” offers exec producer Julie Plec. “She has a choice to make: Does she want to dive in head first and embrace it? Or does she want to pull back and say, ‘Hey you know what? Why don’t you guys leave me out of it.’ We’ll be seeing a little bit of her in the beginning of the season.”

How long will it be before Elena starts embracing her vampirism on The Vampire Diaries? NATALIE: Not long. Once the transition starts, theres no turning back. Fortunately, shes got a ton of friends who have already been through it themselves! In the season premiere, Stefan will have a heartfelt chat with Elena about her new strengths and weaknesses. Hell also present her with her first daylight ring — made especially for her by Bonnie.

Hey, Sandra! It’s been WEEKS since Vampire Diaries scoop. So help a girl out. While some of the gang might be looking to help Elena fight her craving for a kill, there’s one person who certainly will not: Damon. Vampire Diaries executive producer Julie Plec says the elder Salvatore is rooting for Mystic Falls’ newest vamp to give in to what he feels is certain to happen. “In his mind, there’s an inevitability to being a vampire that we should just get to and get past. [Its] the equivalent of kicking Elena out of the bird’s nest and letting her fall and see if she can fly.” What do we say gang? Fight or flight?

„The Vampire Diaries“: Though we wont see the Mystic Falls gang celebrate Halloween this year, well definitely get into the spooky spirit of the holiday. Damon, Elena, and Bonnie will visit the nearby college where Bonnies Grams used to teach – and, yes, where Aunt Jenna was working on her degree. While on campus, they all get invited to a fraternitys annual „Murder House“ party, where revelers dress up as their favorite murder victim or murderer. (The Ripper of Monterey, anyone?)

One way or another, Elena does complete her transition in the first episode of the season. In episode 2, „The Memorial“ – which is, by the way, one of the 5 best „Vampire Diaries“ episodes ever – well discover that its not as easy as she thought. Elenas body begins to reject every blood source she tries (and she tries a lot). Without nourishment, she could die. Again. Also, expect to see her first compulsion as a vampire in „The Memorial“ as well.

Any scoop on Phoebe Tonkins character on TVD? Cant wait to see her back on TV! We chatted with the CW hits gorgeous new lady wolf about her character Hayley and Tonkin tells us that viewers can expect to see her go up against Klaus. „She kind of speaks before she thinks, especially to people that are probably a little bit dangerous,“ she teases. „I think her mouth could get her into trouble…possibly!“ Unfortunately, Tonkin wont be sharing scenes with her real-life BFF Claire Holt, who plays Rebekah on the show, as were hearing the Original vamp will be absent for several episodes. (You can blame her bro Klaus for that.)

HOPE FOR KLAROLINE? I was so on board the Klaroline train, people — and AM on board — but with Klaus on his usual string of bad behavior, am I the only one feeling like it’s looking less and less likely that this pairing will ever get a chance to play out? Probably not. But Joseph Morgan recently gave me a reason to turn my fan-frown upside down.

When EW recently hit the set of The Vampire Diaries in Atlanta, Morgan said in the first few episode of this season, fans will definitely see a little bit more between these two. “We’ll certainly see their relationship — but I don’t mean relationship in the sense that they’re dating — but we’ll certainly see the dynamic between them develop,” he says.

How? He wouldn’t say. Though he said he relishes the opportunity to show new shades of Klaus. “[The Klaus/Caroline storyline] brings out Klaus’ humanity. I love playing the more charming side of him and the scenes with Caroline really allow me to do that,” he says. “So I hope he has a shot with her. I think everyone deserves love and a second chance.”

If/When his chance comes, however, it will be easier said than done. “I wonder how much of a compromise he’d have to make in order for her to come around to him and whether he will be able to make that compromise,” says Morgan.

The Vampire Diaries is introducing a new recurring character called Vaughn. Not much is known yet about this character but they will appear in Episode 4.13,4.14 and 4.15.
